Sephora Birthday Haul

Today is my birthday so I felt somewhat justified in overspending at Sephora. No real introduction is really necessary, you know how it goes; I went to Sephora, bought a few things I planned to buy, and a few things I didn't. It's those dang minis along the checkout line, they getcha. Here's what I got:

Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette

Philosophy Purity Facial Cleanser

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in Amused

Daisy by Marc Jacobs Rollerball perfume

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray 50ml

Sephora brand precision pore cleansing pad

All of these are products I've seen praised on YouTube and I'm really excited about trying them out. I also received my gift from Sephora. Last year it was a pair of the Sugar Lip Treatments, which were actually really nice. This year it's sample sizes of Benefit's They're Real Mascara and their Watt's Up Highlighter. I'm looking forward to trying the mascara especially. I've heard rave reviews, but I'm kind of against buying high end mascara. I have no problem with trying it for free though.
It's always a bit shocking when they ring you up at Sephora-like how am I spending that much money ($185 this time) on cosmetics. I really don't know, but please don't judge me. It is my birthday.

A look.

So I said I love makeup, I should back that shit up. Here's a look I have been using lately as a nice work look. I manage a restaurant so it's kind of an environment where I can play with fun makeup. This is def not a five minute out the door look. But it's also not a crazy night time smokey deal. Here's a list of what I used. It's long, be afraid. I'm just going to list in the order I apply.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow- 545 Attitude Quad, shades 1 & 3(crease)
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, shade Chopper(eyelid)
Wet & Wild Coloricon- 380b Walking on Eggshells Trio, the browbone colour (um on my browbone, and inner corner)
Nyx Eyeshadow ES 02 in white(also inner corner)
Stila Stay all Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara in Blackest Black

Face:
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Ivory
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair
Revlon Photoready Powder in Fair
The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter
Nars Orgasm Blush

Eyebrows:
Annabelle Eyebrow Pencil in 010 Taupe
Maybelline Great Lash Transparent Mascara

Lips:
Too faced Perfect Lips Lip Liner in Perfect Nude
Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
NYC Liquid Lipshine in Clear

Holy shit when I type that all out it seems really excessive. But I think that's kind of the point? I'm not spending this much money on makeup to look like a natural beauty I tell you what! But this whole thing probably took me 20-25 minutes to do. That seems reasonable at this juncture of my life where I really have nothing meaningful to do with my time.

P.S. Full disclosure: I did use a lighting filter on this photo. I take the help where I can get it.

Movie time

I went to see Jurassic Park 3D the other night, and let me tell you that movie stands the test of time. I can't believe it came out 20 years ago. The animatronics still look great. There was a family with little kids in front of us in the theatre. I totally thought they'd be annoying but it actually added to my enjoyment to see the kids losing it over the T-Rex. Probably because I was freaking out a little myself. I remember as a kid asking my dad what the Star Wars of my time would be-you know, that classic big story movie that everyone who is ever born will see. JP definitely goes in that category. Plus Jeff Goldblum is a dream in all black.

Make up addict

I mentioned in my previous post that my latest obsession is makeup. I mean I've worn makeup (usually badly) since early high school. But in the last year I've spend an inordinate amount of time watching makeup videos on YouTube. Mostly because I spend a lot of time on the Internet and I got bored of reading about the Kardashians and looking at pictures of cats and I needed a new way to piss away the precious minutes of my life.

My love of makeup is pretty embarrassing. I think I've lost touch with reality when it comes to filling in my eyebrows-I look like a cartoon most of the time. But whatever, everyone's into something. So I'm always buying makeup , learning new ways to use it and desperately hoping I can figure out how to paint away the permanent shiners under my eyes.

Today my local drugstore had a buy one get one free sale on all Covergirl products. So I obviously bought a bunch of shit I don't need, most of which I'm not sure I even like. I was also happy to find they finally had the Maybelline gel liner in blackest black in stock. I've never used a gel liner before. This is the kind of thing that I get excited about these days. I'm fine with it.

Inspirational banana muffins

Ok so I just posted a picture of some muffins I made on Instagram, and someone suggested I do a baking blog. I've done that before so I was kinda let ehhhhh nah. But then I thought that blogs with one focus seem not to be my forte-I get bored. I love writing and sharing things though. So I'm thinking I'm going to start using this blog as an all purpose style one with all my passions- cooking, fitness(I'm actually typing this while on the elliptical) and my newest craze-makeup. I like to think of myself as a well rounded person- makes sense that my blog would reflect that.
Oh, and here's those muffins.
